Home wireless security systems are becoming more and more popular each year.

Families feel the need for increased security because of escalating crime.

Security as a business is nothing new. In fact, it has a very interesting evolution.

For years businesses tried to shield themselves by hiring guards to patrol their premises, which did prove to be a crime deterrent.

Next came security patrol services. People with healthy bank accounts hired these services which would send out patrol cars that would drive by your home several times each night. Generally these patrolmen would make sure that doors were locked and flash a searchlight around the perimeter of your home.

Next came the wiring of your doors and windows along with the installation of motion detectors in yards and inside the home. If there was an intrusion a silent alarm would be sent to a central dispatcher, who would then call the police.

These systems did deter crime, but they were very expensive!

Today, however, home wireless security systems use digital cameras as the chief tool for deterring crime. It is no longer just the affluent that can manage to pay for home security, because the price of these digital cameras has come way down.

Wireless home security systems today come in all shapes and sizes.

The new latest wireless cameras are both battery or solar powered, and are much smaller than the old cam-corders. Because of their size, they may be veiled in all sorts of day-to-day objects.

For example, a surveillance camera might be fitted into a smoke detector, hidden inside a clock, or be secured inside stereo speakers. These cameras then become a vital part of your home security.

A vital part of your home wireless security system is the motion detector that’s built into camera. The camera begins recording for a pre-determined length of time when it senses motion.

Images captured by these hidden cameras can be sent to a local area network, or LAN. They can then be uploaded to an IP address and viewed on the internet.

This means that you can view these images from anywhere in the world where you have an internet connection. I know a couple who own a vacation villa in the Cayman Islands that they monitor from their living room in Butte, Montana!

A battery powered camera usually runs on a 9 volt battery that will last about ten hours of actual recording time. Because these cameras record digitally, there is no necessity to constantly be changing film. This is a big money saver, time saver, and a major reason they are so much more efficient.

Modern security cameras store video on a computer which can saved, deleted, or transferred to another hard drive, CD, or any other digital storage device.

Home security systems have been around now for many years. But the new digital technology is constantly advancing. Products are constantly becoming more sophisticated and less expensive. Now nearly every family can afford a home based wireless security system.

As a result, thousands of families now feel safer and more secure.

Are you ready to join them? If so, you will find a wide variety of highly efficient and reasonably priced wireless home security systems available.
